As I insta-stalked all of the gorgeous Hollywood stars in their all black last night, I wondered what would be Oprah’s speech as she accepted the Cecil B. DeMille award.
Let me tell you all something about my love for Oprah. Ever since I was a little girl, I would watch Oprah on her show and say that I wanted to be her. What did that statement mean? No, not a talk show host. I wanted to be educated, motivating, inspiring, curvy, and take ownership in my love life. Yes, deep for a little girl, but I was always so beyond my years.
Oprah to me is the true definition of having a strong sense of self. Her acceptance speech was all of who she is. Strong and with hope. In our sad political climate right now, everyone is looking for hope. During dark times people tend to turn to entertainment. We can’t even rely on our favorite Hollywood stars right now because we are learning about some of their dark pasts. In Oprah’s speech, she acknowledged the solidarity and that there WILL be a bright morning in the future because of all of the brave women and phenomenal men who will put in the work to make it happen.
Ok, my rant isn’t doing Oprah’s speech justice. Listen to it here. And if she runs for President, I’m with her.
