When I think of Vegas, I think of slot machines, the circus, and the Luxor. The last time I was there, I believe I was in my early 20s and didn’t see the light of day. Let’s fast forward 10 years. I had the opportunity to visit Vegas for three nights as a work trip at the beautiful Palms Hotel & Casino.
The biggest thing that stuck out to me besides the millions of slot machines, cigarette smoke, and loud music, was the fact that EVERYTHING was so expensive. Breakfast meals starting at $16, drinks starting at $18, and pool party entry fees at $75 for women and $100 for men. It’s almost as if you had to decide for the day if you were going to eat or gamble. I did try my luck with a $20 bill. I lost that in 5 mins. Even though the food was pricey, it was delicious and you
There were so many young people there; 21-year-olds ready to tackle life by the horns. I was able to see Fashion Nova and Mint Swim clothing in person. Those ads are embedded in my brain. Revolve recently opened a store in the Palms which is staged so beautifully that it lends itself to a full-on photo shoot.
My first day there, DJ Marshmallow was playing at the pool. I saw the number of people grow from 100 to 1000 in a matter of hours. If I was in Vegas for recreation, I would have definitely enjoyed the crowd. Instead, I looked on from my window and watched VH1 Black Ink Chicago instead.
My last night in Vegas, I was fortunate enough to enjoy a relaxing facial at their spa. It was well-deserved and right on time. If you haven’t experienced a facial, I highly recommend it. I received an organic peel and my skin was so smooth afterward. Apparently, the difference between a chemical peel and an organic peel is that a chemical peel develops overtime and leaves your face red as it is literally peeling a few days after receiving. The organic peel doesn’t have those effects and you can wear makeup the same day.
All in all, my trip to Vegas was fun. I’m glad that I was able to finally see it during the day.
